Honoring Our Founder, Dr. Phil Plunk
A Legacy of Health, Healing and Education

In 2026, Salud y Paz proudly celebrates 25 years of work and service in Guatemala, a remarkable journey made possible by the vision and dedication of our founder, Dr. Phillip Lester Plunk. For more than two decades, Dr. Phil’s legacy has guided our mission, which is rooted in partnership—walking alongside our communities to promote medical, dental, and educational services while empowering local leaders every step of the way.

What began as Dr. Phil’s project focused on essential services has grown into a lasting collaboration with the people of Guatemala. Together, we work toward a shared mission: Promoting integrated health, healing, and education with Mayan communities in Guatemala by enabling access to health care and early childhood education. Our work is not done for the community, but with the community.

This incredible journey would not have been possible without Dr. Phillip Lester Plunk, whose compassion, vision, and unwavering dedication to serving others laid the foundation for everything we do today.

We honor Dr. Phil’s legacy by continuing to grow the work he began, building upon the strong base he created and expanding our impact for future generations.

Now, 25 years later, we invite you to celebrate with us. November 7 – 11, 2026 we will celebrate this milestone, with a 25th Anniversary Gathering in Guatemala. This special celebration will include meaningful activities, opportunities to experience our work firsthand, and time to honor and celebrate Dr. Phil’s lasting legacy.

The full itinerary of events is available below. Scroll past the video or click here to jump directly to the itinerary.

We invite you to join us in Guatemala for this special celebration. The cost of the trip is $1,100 plus airfare. By joining us, you are celebrating our past and becoming an active part of our future. Your support has been essential to this journey, and without it, Dr. Phil’s vision would not have been possible.

We know many of you want to celebrate the legacy of Salud y Paz and Dr. Phil. We will livestream and record many of the activities, including a special memorial for Dr. Phil. Please join us, in person, online, or in spirit, for this special celebration.
